Who is worthy?

Revelation 5:1-5: “And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?" 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. 4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."

The scroll that is mentioned in this chapter is extremely important. It contains the final orders set down by God Almighty about the lasts days of earth. This scroll is the final say and the unfolding of the rest of the book of revelation. History is about the past and the lessons from generations. Revelation is future, it is the outcome of all that had taken place in the past, but has yet to be revealed. This scroll is held in the hands of Him who sits on the throne, God the Father. The scroll is like that of a baton, waiting for the next in line to grasp it and finish the race.

John noticed a strong angel who is able to proclaim the question of the ages. “Who is worthy?” We already know that we as humans of course cannot be worthy, for we are sinners. No angel can be worthy because they are a created being. The only person who is worthy to take the scroll and read it is no other then Jesus Christ, the humble sacrifice, (born in a manger) the Lamb of God, who died on a cross for the sins of this world. However, the angel did not describe Jesus as a humble lamb. No the angel called Him the “Lion of the tribe of Judah.” The first time Jesus came as a savior, the time of His second coming He is coming as a fierce King and swift judge.

Only one was found to open the scroll. Only one who was real, true, powerful, and eternal. One who paid the price for all of creation. That was Jesus. Not mohammad, buddha, joseph smith, allah, or any of the thousands of false gods there are. No, Jesus made it clear when He said, “"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” He is the only way to salvation and he is the only one who can open the scroll that is in God’s hands. Jesus is the only one worthy. The baton of the ages is about to be handed off to Jesus, are you ready. The Church of this day is convinced that these are indeed the last days. Are you ready? Which side are you on? Is Jesus worthy in your life today? Do not wait to surrender you heart to Him. For those whom have, we have no need to fear the end times. This is the hour we have been waiting for. We will be reunited with our Lord and King. Amen!!!
