Get ready

Mark 13: 5-9: “And Jesus, answering them, began to say: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 6 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and will deceive many. 7 "But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 "But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them.”

As we gaze into an uncertain future, we are gripped with the reality of a crisis. Economical turmoil, shifts in our national sovereignty, wars, threats of nuclear attack, and global catastrophes, we beg the question is this what Jesus is speaking about? No other time in History can we see such a parallel to what we hear on the evening news and to what we read in the Bible. The days are growing more and more evil and unsettling. Tension is high throughout the entire world, a creepy calm before the storm lingers, and everyday we inch closer to something that we cannot see, yet it is there. This storm is none other then the Last Days that are mentioned over and over again in the Bible.
Jesus was approached by His disciples concerning the Last Days. He proceeded to tell them about what will happen in that time. Deceitful people who try to corrupt the church will be readily available; they will be spreading a false gospel with hopes of tearing apart the Christian Church. There will be an escalation of wars and global unrest. Jesus then explains that there will be natural catastrophes like never before. They will persecute the Christ-followers who preach the word and say that they have committed a crime, possibly a hate crime. Actually, the description Jesus gives could describe the world as it is today.

The Last Days are creeping up and we have only so much time left to live our lives for Christ. You only have so much time left to make a decision to surrender your heart to Jesus. We have so little time to love our neighbor, so little time to spread the gospel, and so little time to Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, and strength. We live in perilous times. Jesus warns, “"So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near; at the doors!” 13:29
